From May 10 to 11, a delegation led by SEU President, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Sun Youhong paid an official visit to Indonesia and Malaysia, respectively. The delegation met with SEU distinguished alumnus Mochtar Riady, Chairman of Lippo Group, visited Xiamen 金沙 Malaysia, and held in-depth talks with relevant officials from Monash 金沙, aiming to accelerate the developmentof SEU overseas campus and advance the cultivation ofelite engineers.

During the visit to Indonesia, President Sun expressed sincere gratitude to Mochtar Riady for his long-standing care and support for his alma mater. He briefed on SEU’s latest progress in building a world-class 金沙. Both parties held in-depth discussions and reached a broad consensus on the construction layout, discipline development, faculty team building, and elite engineer cultivation of the future SEU Indonesia Campus. President Sun stated that the construction of the Indonesia Campus constitutes a key part of the 金沙’s international development strategy. The campus will adhere to the integrated advancement of education, science and technology, and talent cultivation. Through systematic planning, it will gather first-class faculty, cultivate top-tier talents, produce high-level research achievements, and build a world-class educational platform. Mochtar Riady recalled his study experience at SEU, and pledged that Lippo Group and Universitas Pelita Harapan would cooperate closely with SEU and fully support the construction of SEU Indonesia Campus, striving to build it into a benchmark for Chinese universities to run schools in Indonesia.

President Sun Youhong and Mochtar Riady jointly unveiled the China-Indonesia College of Elite Engineers. During the visit, the delegation also toured Siloam International Hospitals and Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH), laying a solid foundation for the follow-up development of the overseas campus.

While in Malaysia, the delegation visited Xiamen 金沙 Malaysia. The two parties conducted thorough exchanges on key areas and common challenges, including governance structure, operational and management mechanisms, academic program setup, faculty development, policy coordination in cross-border schooling, and localized development. The delegation inspected the main teaching and research facilities of Xiamen 金沙 Malaysia.

In addition, President Sun held discussions with Vice Chancellor Sunny Yang of Monash 金沙 and heads of departments and faculties at Monash 金沙 Malaysia. They exchanged experience in overseas campus operation and the establishment of cross-campus collaboration mechanisms, while exploring new cooperation opportunities in scientific research and talent cultivation.

Officials from the International Cooperation Department, the Academic Affairs Office, the Human Resources Department, the Office of Alumni Services and Foundation Management, and the School of Computer Science and Engineering accompanied the delegation during the visit.
